fiber arts Workshops

Hi there!
If you’re seeing this it’s because you’re curious about the other wild thing I do, which is to dress up in costumes and teach people about historical fiber art.

I have participated as Louisville Vikings’ fibermaiden for the last few years, giving lectures about viking era fiber production and public demonstrations. I also gave a talk about fiber and taught spinning as Mags Witherspoon at the Brandywine Festival in 2025.

My setup includes: wooden table (the one in the library is an older picture), samples of dyestuffs, sample plant dyes, samples of various types of weaves, and tools used. I have 10 student hand-spindles & bowls, and a huge amount of wool to teach interested students one-on-one or in small classes. While my classes have mostly been focused on Viking-Era, many of the same techniques were employed in later eras, too. I can bring my spinning wheel this year!

Though it’s not to do with fiber, I’ve taught with Louisville Visual Art for the last eight years and have been a mentor with Louisville Youth Group, where I’ve taught as well, for about four years now.
